Today’s prompt asks: What’s the household task you most dislike doing? Why do you think that is — is it the task itself, or something more?
Does anyone like to do household cleaning?
For me, my two big nightmares are cleaning floors and pulling weeds. In fact, yesterday I spent two hours pulling weed in the backyard of the rental house. Today, I woke up and it felt like I’ve been in a street fight. Every part of my body is in pain. I didn’t even want to get up, just want to lay in bed for the rest of the day.
The worst part is I have to go do it again in a little while. That and mom called in sick today and decided to work at home. She too is in pain from yesterday’s work but she seemed careless though when she tell me to go buy some more pesticide and trash bag at 8:30 this morning, as I was in the middle of writing this post.
Great, I have to start over.
My point is I hate pulling weeds especially weeds that don’t die after dumping it with pesticide. We have some kind of vine crawling all over the neighborhood that’s like that. It’s been getting worse in the recent years. We have no idea where it’s stemmed from or how to kill it. Every time we dump pesticide on it, more would sprout. It’s like a zombie plant.
My other nightmare is cleaning floors. In our apartment days, we used to clean the floors the hard way, by getting on our hands and knees and scrub the floor until it was clean, sort of like how Cinderella would do it. Then during the time when my mom was in basic training, I discovered a neighbor had a mop that uses disposable clothes. It’s called Swiffer. I saw it on a TV commercial.
Since then, we’ve been using the swiffer mop. Trust me, I am glad for the evolution but I will more glad to not have to carry a large bucket of water.

Amen.

I hate vacuuming the stairs. I hate lugging the vac up and down. it’s a total PITA.

Me too! Wouldn’t it be nice if we have a vacuum that will do that by itself?

Some days after weeding I feel like I can’t even get out of the chair.

I shall soon feel that way. I just got bacak from visiting my son and while I was away Spring blew up all over my yard!

Yikes! That’s terrible! I just got done with the rental home yesterday. The tenant decided to dump the mowed grass in the planters and let weeds take over. Now, I just hope that I don’t have to do it again this year.
