My mom often says, “Take for granted for the time you’re in school because this will be the happiest times of your life.” I had never fully understood the meaning until these past few months when I’m up early to get to work and then come home exhausted ready to go to bed.
In school, all I had were a few hours of school and then home to do my homework. I didn’t have to stare at my professors for an entire eight hours and have people ask me a dozen questions and expect me to have answers at the snap of my fingers. I certainly didn’t have the anxiety of losing my job because of stupid reasons like I’m not pretty enough or just not good enough. Maybe I’m just being anxious and paranoid but I think my mom is right on this one. “Take for granted for the time you’re in school because this will be the happiest times of your life.”

I think maybe you meant “Don’t take for granted…”
Jobs are an artificial man-made security in a world where we are all walking on thin ice. I like Walt Whitman’s attitude; he’d go out for lunch during his job and forget (or didn’t care) about returning to work. His “didn’t give a damn-ness” was extreme but what can bring things into perspective away from fears of what might happen. 🙂

I wish I can do that sometimes, leave my job and never come back. A lot of the warehouse workers does that at the place I work, simply work for a day and then disappear. *sigh

Only a dozen questions? Oh, don’t take that job for granted. 🙂
Just kidding responsibility grows with adulthood but so does privilege. It’s not all bad.

At one time and sometimes more. What am I? An encyclopedia?
Sometimes, even at work, I feel like everyone’s undermining my abilities just because of the way I look. It’s so frustrating at times.

Oh a dozen questions at a time? That is a different story. That’s why I started taking appointments.

Yeah well 20 years in the same job does give me some latitude to do things like that.

I don’t agree with that saying. Life is what you make it. Our attitudes are the key to our success and happiness. There are many wonderful moments in life still waiting for you.

I guess in a way, that’s true.

The whole adulting adventure is difficult but also rewarding. Times can be tough due to your responsibilities but you’ll find the right job and that will help along way in aiding you to feel better throughout your day. Doesn’t mean there won’t be hard days but most days are better when you’re around people you like to be with, who respect you. And I do think difficulties make azperson more resilient. I know you’ve had your fair share of those and strength is always admirable. Best of luck my friend. It will be okay! 💕🙏🏻

The recent days certainly had been tough and I have no doubt that it will end eventually, just wish it would end now. Thank you as always for your thoughtful comment. 🙂
