#WeekendCoffeeShare: Veteran’s Day Saturday

Good Sunday morning and thank you for joining me for this lovely chat. I heard the weather is supposed to be very nice today but still, I’ll have a hot cocoa. What about you?

So tell me, how’s your week been? Anything exciting in your world?

My week had been very busy though some exciting things came out from it. My co-worker suggested we play Secret Santa for Christmas. Of course, she has to ask the big bosses which I doubt they’ll say yes since they wouldn’t even let my colleague decorate the office. Still, an exciting suggestion.

After two weeks, I finally finished my monthly financial reports. I haven’t send it to my bosses yet and to be honest, I’m very nervous about how they’ll react. Usually, Mr. CEO has a billion questions for me regarding the reports like what is this and that and did you enter everything. He seems to think I’m incapable of entering things.

I guess we’ll see.

Now tell me, how’s your weekend been so far? Did you spend your Saturday in bed? On the couch binging a TV show? Did you spend it outside doing something fun?

The weather here was gorgeous on Saturday. Since it was Veteran’s Day, a local shop was giving free oil changes for cars and with my mom being military, we were able to take that deal. That shop was very busy and while my car was waiting in queue, my mom and I walked to the post office a mile away to mail something. When we got there and saw only two cars parked in the parking lot, that’s when I suddenly realized it was Veteran’s Day which meant the post office wouldn’t be open.

So we walked back.

Everywhere was either closing early or closed that day. I ended up spending the afternoon in my backyard raking leaves. The raking part was fun, the putting into garbage bags part was not. It took me what felt like an eternity to gather all the leaves in two-30-gallons bags. It was as if the pile of leaves was growing every time I put a pile in the bag.

I wish I had taken a picture but I didn’t want to ruin the clean floor with my dirty shoes. So imagine a big pile of dark-brown color leaves.

Afterwards, I pruned the trees to prepare for winter. It was my first time pruning and I really hope I didn’t overdo it. Instead, I hope I’ve done the plants a favor even though I didn’t do myself any favor because my body is super sore right now.

If we were having this lovely conversation, I would thank you for joining me and hopefully we both can be here again next weekend having hot drinks.

  1. Hope you get to do the Secret Santa, it’s such fun. Things have changed where I work, too, I don’t know if we will be decorating our cubes. We didn’t for Halloween, and we have in years past. My leaves aren’t even close to finished dropping, so I’ll be raking snow and leaves at the same time! Brrrr.. Thanks for the coffee and have a great week!

    1. Raking leaves with snow cannot be fun.
I feel like the holiday festivities has been decreasing year after year, at least based on my observation around the neighborhood. It makes things more dreary without holiday lights and festivities.
