#DSFWeeklyRewind: Disappointed

Good morning and thank you for joining me on this Sunday. I’ve been trying to figure out how to start this post. It was a disappointing week. There, I said that.

From the beginning of the week, the weathermen had been telling us a storm would arrive on Wednesday night and rain would come on Thursday and then rain would change to snow on Friday.

I was so looking forward to the snow. It would be the most exciting thing all week.

The sky was so dark on Thursday that it felt as though I was working at the night. The rain never came, at least not until I was five miles from home. That was when it started sprinkling.

That was also when traffic came to a halt as though everyone stopped driving because of a few drops of rain. It was crazy! As I sat in traffic, I could feel my patience weaning and my anxiety rising. I sat there and wondered how much longer it would take to reach my exit to home and what was happening ahead that’s making this traffic come to be so slow?

Twenty-some minutes later and almost five miles later, I finally reached my exit. I reached home in minutes short of an hour instead of my usual 30-40 minutes.

It rained through the night and next morning’s traffic was more or less a repeat of the previous evening. I was glad I wasn’t the one driving because with the rain and the fog, even with high beams, I could barely see out the windshield.

As I sat in the passenger seat wishing my mom would drive a wee bit faster, I was listening to the traffic report on the radio. “There are at least ten accidents along the valley,” the announcer said. I rolled my eyes and thought, what’s wrong with these people, it’s just rain. It’s not like the ground’s iced over.

It took me more than an hour to reach work that day. By the time I got there, one of my co-worker was already there. “Bad traffic?” He asked. I just nodded.

The sky was once again black as night that day. The weatherman on the radio told of a 90% possibility the rain would change over to snow at around 2 PM.

It never did.

There I was, hoping to document the first snow storm of winter season 2017, but instead, all I saw was rain, hail, and below-freezing temperatures that even with two jackets, I still felt chilly.

So disappointing!

I have a feeling this might be a mild, less snow winter. I am glad, however, that snow didn’t fall that day. Otherwise, traffic home would be very very screwed.

I want to thank you for dropping by this morning and hoped you enjoyed our conversation. I would also hope you can join me again in two weeks since next week is Thanksgiving. Yay! A four-day break from work! For now, I’ll leave you with a picture from last year’s first snow storms on November 17, 2016.

  1. I hate that people can’t seem to drive in the rain. I’m sorry it didn’t snow. I would be disappointed, too, though you’re right — traffic would be worse then. But I love snow, and I, like you, like to take photos of the snow. Hopefully, we’ll both have some pretty scenes to capture this winter.

I hope you have a good week and enjoy your Thanksgiving! I’m not posting next week either. Four days off in a row… I can’t wait! I’ll see you the weekend of December 1 then again for #DSFWeeklyRewind. Speaking of Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for your participation in my linkup and always grateful for your lovely photos. Thanks for sharing!

    • I sure hope there will be some snow this winter because so far, the mountains had been hogging all the snow.
I’ve been looking forward to my 4.5 days break for so far. I’m taking any extra half day on Wednesday since someone’s coming to do an estimate for a water softener.
Have a great Thanksgiving to you and see you in two weeks. ☺
