#WeekendCoffeeShare: Last Full Week

Good Sunday morning and thank you for joining me for this lovely chat. What would you like to drink? I am trying this new tea I bought from the store a few days ago. It smells quite nice too, like peach.

If you were having coffee and I was having tea, I would tell you I’m very close to reaching my first weight goal. Woohoo! After reaching this first weight goal, I will be setting a second weight goal. That’s right, I’m doing this weight loss thing in baby steps.

I have been watching a lot of weight loss videos, gathering tips on how to lose weight healthily and efficiently as well as what to eat. My lunches and breakfasts have been much too boring lately. Dinner remains under my mom’s control.

What can I say? She won’t let me cook and if I do cook, she wouldn’t eat what I cook. She would rather make herself something else. “What’s wrong with eating vegetables?” I asked her the other night when I made this delicious and healthy stir-fry noodle for her because she was doing overtime that day. I thought it would be a delicious meal to come home to.

Instead, she gave me this disgusted look and said, “I’m not like you. I don’t eat Americanized Chinese food.” She only ate a little before throwing the rest down the garbage disposal. There I was, on the treadmill, shaking my head in disappointment.

That’s so her, wouldn’t adapt to the American culture. The other night when we went out for Italian food with guests, of all the great menu items, she ordered spaghetti with meatballs for almost everyone at the table. I ordered salmon with fettuccine after telling her irritably I don’t want spaghetti with meatballs and I want to pick my own item.

If you were having coffee and I was having tea, I would tell you this will be my last full week at work. After this week, I will only work the following Monday and then I’ll fly back to China on Tuesday. I still can’t believe it. The week went by so fast and I feel like I didn’t accomplish much of anything. Year-end closing of the books is hard.

Mr. CEO is coming on Tuesday. I am absolutely not looking forward to that but it’s only one more week, right? I can do this!

If you were having coffee and I was having tea, I would tell you I am looking forward to going to China because I will get to escape the frigid freezing winter even though it’s only for a short time. I am afraid though because I went to China around the same time last year and I was constantly freezing even in the 60-degree-Fahrenheit weather due to the high moisture in the air. Hopefully with this active lifestyle I’ve been living lately, I won’t be as cold this time around.

This reminds me, I should probably get my flu shot before leaving for China.

If you were having coffee and I was having tea, I would thank you for joining me today and hopefully we can reconvene next weekend.

  1. Yinglan, I watch what I eat too and the rest of the family just rolls their eyes! And I walk 6-8 miles a day which drives my hubby nuts! Oh, well I just say! I feel FAB. Has your mother been in this country a long time? Does she miss China and not want to give up her traditional ways? I could understand that. Have a great time in China!

    1. Actually my mom went to China a few months ago. I’m not sure she misses it, she’s always saying bad things about it. I think that’s how she is.
You and me both! I weigh my food before eating and eat mostly whole foods (foods that are not processed). It drives my mom insane. 😃
6-8 miles, wow! I can barely walk 6 miles a day. I’m glad you feel fabulous.
Thank you for stopping by. ☺
