If you had an unlimited shopping spree at only one store, which one would you choose? Why?
I’ve answered this question before and I picked Amazon last time. My answer remains unchanged. It’s still Amazon. Why? It’s got everything! It’s got merchandises than Walmart. That’s why.
What is the worst thing you ate recently?
Hmm… I’m don’t think I had anything bad lately. Everything’s been super yummy.
Name five things you like watching…
- Travel shows
- Scenery as I hike
- TV shows on my cable streaming app (I missed this app while I was in China because I couldn’t access it. The app kept saying I cannot streaming videos when I’m out of the country but then, in the ad, it said people can stream video from the app on the moon. So I can watch TV shows and movies on the moon but not in China?)
- Sunrises and sunsets
- Facebook clips
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?
The temperature dropped from the low 70’s Fahrenheit to low 40’s Fahrenheit in China this past week. Brr… I certainly did not appreciate that.
I know being from the frozen tundra of northern Utah, I should be used to the cold by now. What I wasn’t used to was the lack of heat in places. In Southeast China, there are no furnaces in apartments and the walls are made from insulation-free concrete walls. So the inside temperature is the same as outside, sometimes, even colder. I ended up spending over 12 hours beneath my very-own blanket fort earlier this week and consuming the most ginger I’ve consumed in my life.
What I did appreciate though was finally arriving in sunshiny Los Angeles on Wednesday morning after a 12-hour flight. It was the first time I’ve seen sunshine since leaving for China two weeks ago. The sky in China was always gloomy and cloudy.
So I was super happy to see the sun upon arriving at LAX. If I didn’t have to rush to immigration, I would’ve immediately ripped my jackets off. I wore three layers that day, so you can imagine how it feels to wear three layers of winter clothing in 70-degree weather.

GOodness, a huge temperature change indeed! Often when I have the chance to go to CA, NEvada, AZ and it’s in JUNE or end if AUG so, we leave Edmonton and it’s fairly wet and cold for JUNE & then reaching Las Vegas or Phoenix etc. it’s crazy warm for that time of year for us. 30 to 35 degrees C, but coming from Canada it’s like 10 or 15 degrees. If we go in August it’s often the opposite, warm for us leaving the airport and wherever we’re visiting, but coming home never fails to be cold and rainy as Fall arrives. We reach the airport here and immediately feel the drop in temp. Glad you enjoyed China and LAX was warmer.

Oh I absolutely know that feeling and this wasn’t the first time I encountered this. I went to Las Vegas two years ago. When I left home in the morning, it was about 60-degree Fahrenheit but when I reached Vegas, it was 100-degrees. I immediately got sick that night due to the temperature change. I’m just glad that when I got to Salt Lake City on Wednesday, even though the temperature was almost the same as China, the humidity made me feel less cold.

You said you ate a lot of ginger is that good for cold weather? Do you drink it like a hot drink? Glad you made it back to the states safe and sound!
