What news event do you vividly remember hearing about as a child, and where were you?

To be honest, I didn’t pay much attention to news events as a child. I spent the first 10 years of my life in China where media and news are incredibly censored. 2007 was the first time I ever really started paying attention and I was a high school junior then so not a child.

Digging into my memory, the only news event that jumped out at me from way back when (before moving to the U.S) was the attack on September 11, 2001. I don’t remember much. The event was so vaguely reported on the news that it felt like a conversation in passing.

What is a Christmas song that makes you cringe?

The only one that comes to mind is Santa Baby and it doesn’t matter who sings the song.

What is one place you shop(ped prior to Covid) that might have surprised people?

I don’t know. Maybe the Thrift store? I don’t think I’ve visited one at all in 2020. It’s usually a once a year trip to get cheap paperback novels.

What is your least favorite holiday side dish?

Green beans because it’s never cooked correctly and ends up brown and mushy. My other least favorite holiday side dish would be stuff. Blech!

  1. Thanks Yinglan for Sharing Your World! We got an early ‘present’ here with that snow storm Monday morning. It’s pretty and everything, but not great for the person who likes to hike! I think, although shocking to America, 9/11 was a mostly in-country horror story. I know the world was fairly shocked by that too, but less so probably? It’s difficult to shop for anything in person right now, Covid isn’t something to mess around with catching! Have a great week!

    • We sure did and we’re scheduled to get more later this week. I agree, this weather is not good for hiking. I haven’t been able to go anywhere since winter hit.
The only great place to shop right now is Amazon but the shipping has been unreliable lately due to the holiday.
Absolutely, I have a few co-workers catching covid and they said it’s like hell and it stays with them. I’m just glad no one close to me has caught it. Thanks for visiting and have a great week.
