Friday Fictioneers: Swearing Man

“There ain’t no reason to swear and never will.” He’d tell anyone who’d listen.

Ironically, swearing is all he wants to do right now as he maneuver the tight curve while towing his dream house behind him. “Watch out, dear!” Sitting beside him, his wife shrieks, hands over her eyes, too frightened to look.

Gritting his teeth, he turns the wheel ever so slowly. In his side mirror, he can see the line of cars behind him. Those drivers must be cursing their heads off, he thinks.

“Watch out!” His wife shrieks.

“Will you shut your gah damn trap, woman?”

      1. You would be shocked at me saying that, wouldn’t you? I guess some depends on who’s saying it? I don’t even say “Gee” unless I am writing about swear words. 😀

      2. I would have to admit I’d be a little bit shocked. You don’t seem like that kind of person, Oneta. But I’ll admit that there are moments when all of us need to swear. 😀

  1. My dad used to say, “Swearing is an indication that you’ve lost control of yourself.” Maybe that was true, in his day. Now, I hear little kids freely using language I would have been disciplined for. I think it is learned behavior. Anyway, your story is priceless. And kind of sad that it was his wife who took him to the breaking point.
