#WeekendCoffeeShare: Road Trip, Yay!

Good morning or afternoon wherever you are, come in, sit, and join me for a chat. Coffee? Tea?

Let’s head outside today. After much anticipation, the temperature has at last leveled off. I wonder how long this will last. I hope it’ll last longer this time.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you after visiting my hematologist on Tuesday to make sure I can be get the vaccine, I finally got my one and only jab yesterday. My doctor told me I should be able to get any of the 3 vaccines. Even though I have to get my blood drawn every 3 months, I am afraid of needles. So if I can get the one and done, I’m taking it.

So now, I am at last vaccinated. Yay!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I am getting so excited for my road trip next week. It’s going to be so great to get away from mom for a few days.

Speaking of mom, she’s been trying to get me to cancel the trip. She doesn’t want any of us to go. She wants me to be at her beck and call.

“The pipeline’s back open,” I told her the other night, “I don’t see why I need to cancel.” Unlike what I’ve heard in the news, there are no long lines of people trying to get gas here. It’s mostly on the east coast where the pipeline was hacked. I’m in the intermountain west region.

I’ve seen a price increase of gasoline this week but no one’s hoarding gas. She also thinks I should cancel because of the expensive gasoline.

I ignored her. She had been trying to sabotage the trip from the beginning. First by telling me there’s nothing good to see, that it’d be just flat lands, red rocks, and mountains. Then tell me I can’t use my own car, that I should rent a car even though that’s adding almost $800 onto the trip’s overall cost.

Believe me when I say she’s been trying numerous tactics trying to get me to call off the trip.

I am not calling off the trip. I need this. I haven’t been out of the house for more than a day since 2019. I need a vacation from my mom and I certainly need time away from work.

If we were having coffee, I would thank you for joining me in this edition of #weekendcoffeeshare and hope we’ll both return next week.

  1. Congratulations on getting the vaccine. I understand the whole not getting out of your house for more than a day. I am sure a lot of people felt like that during the pandemic. Pre-pandemic, I enjoyed my weekend where I would be out for hours at a time; I would go to the gym, window shop, grocery shop, and get a snack or tea. Six months into the pandemic, I went nuts because everything was temporarily closed. I had to get my groceries delivered. If I did go to the grocery store, it had to be quick. I am so happy things are going back to normal!

    1. Thanks. I’m glad I finally got it too. Especially now that the state has more supply than demand. Every day I check the news and it seems like the state is stuck at around 34% vaccination. I can’t wait until things get back to normal.

  2. Good for you, Yinglan! I haven’t been on a vacation where I went out of town since 2016. Question is, why does your mother not want you to go? I think you two could use a break from each other.
