#Bloganuary Prompt Day 4 – Favorite Toy

What was your favorite toy as a child?

I was off from work from December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022. I didn’t go anywhere as there was nowhere to go – flights were canceled, there was snow, slick roads, and I was still in recovery from my recent surgeries. So my mom came up with this not-so-genius plan to scan in and digitize all of our old photos.

This was no small project. We started the project on December 26 and didn’t get it done until New Year Eve. It took me 3 days to scan my portion of the pile which contained a total of 1,274 photos from one-month-old me to 15-year-old me in the pre-pandemic era of 2006.

During those 3 days, I actually spent quite a bit of time reflecting, trying to pull up lots of distant memories that’s been buried in the depth of my brain, even sometimes, finding myself racking my brain attempting to place the month and year the photo was supposedly taken, solely by trying to match my haircut, clothes, and look.

If you ask what my favorite toy was as a child, I will honestly say I don’t remember. I remember playing with some furry friends (stuff animals). I remember playing Barbie and doll house for a brief moment even though I have not a single photo to prove it ever happened.

If you ask my mom, she will most likely tell you my favorite toy was the telephone. “You’re always grabbing the phone,” she said when I asked her why there were so many photos of me talking on the phone.

What was I doing with a phone? I wonder because I hate talking on the phone.

  1. I’ve done that photo scanning thing. The only fun part about it is that I was at my mom’s house and I could ask her who everyone was. There were a lot of memories for me to relive and for my mother to relate to me. We never finished doing it. And now she’s gone.

I’m glad you got to spend some time doing that.
