Tina from Travels and Trifles is the host for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #197 and she has pick the topic: Rule of Thirds, which is one of my favorite photo compositions.
I took a photography composition class in early April and on the first night of the class, the instructor asked everyone to introduce themselves and one goal each of us hope to achieve or something we wish to learn from the class. When it came to my turn, I said my goal is to learn to use something other than the Rule of Thirds when it comes to composing my shots.
Rule of Thirds has been my go-to photo composition ever since I learned it from a YouTube as it’s the way I had learned all-things photography until I took the two classes in April. This composition feels pleasing to the eye, in my opinion.
Finally, this is my attempt at something different and it was part of the assignment from the photo composition class. We spent about an hour taking pictures of the school’s clock tower. I got bored of photographing the clock face of the tower and thought why not try another perspective? So I got down low (which was painful due to my bad knees) and aimed my camera up at the clock tower. I call this the “Evergreen” perspective, since it was taken among evergreen shrubs.
LOL Yan, I loved your goal for the photography composition class! And your final image is very creative.
