Hello, welcome to #weekendcoffeeshare. Let’s have some coffee, tea, whatever.
I have been feeling a combination of anxious, nervous, and sad the last few days. So recall last week’s #WeekendCoffeeShare, I said the weather and temperature have been a roller coaster ride the last few weeks. After moving the tomato plants into bigger pots last week, I had to bring them inside where they stayed until late Monday when it was warm enough to bring them back out.
About an hour of being outside, my tomato plants began to droop and the leaves began to wilt. In a panic, I brought them inside, directly under the grow light and onto the heat mat it went. Since then, I have been shifting between being anxious to panicking, checking on them every few minutes. What if my tomato plants won’t make it to the day when I can finally plant them in the ground? What if…
I honestly don’t know what happened, other than no matter how careful I am, my black thumb curse is still with me.
Thankfully, though I did kill 3 of my tomato seedlings (RIP 😢), two of the tomato plants appears to be on its way to revival, and I hope the remaining two plants will also revive sometime in the upcoming days. Meanwhile, the tomato plants that are alive and well are outside, basking in the sunshine and hopefully, excited to get planted into the ground where it will have more than enough room to stretch its roots.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I took Thursday off from work to finish connecting my drip irrigation system. I am also taking this upcoming Monday off from work. It was a slow week and probably for the first time in perhaps three years, I am up to date with my work. I have a feeling it might be the end of my long work weeks. Back to 40 hours and I am definitely okay with that.
Anyway, since I’m caught up with my work and my paid-time-off has been maxed out (no more accrual) since January, I thought a few days off shouldn’t hurt.
So I spent my day off planting zinnias, sunflowers, and cosmos along the fence to hopefully (crossing my fingers) stop my backyard neighbor’s weeds from crossing into mine. Before I could plant anything though, I spent the morning vacuuming the house and then clearing the weeds from the flower bed. There were so many Morning Glory vines beginning to creep into my yard. Those vines are so annoying because they are next to impossible to get rid of and if they are not pulled in time, they can wrap themselves around a plant and choke that plant to death.
This 4-day workweek was ended with a lunch at the office and a gift from the company. It was Employee Appreciation Day at work on Friday. It was the sole reason I didn’t take Friday off as well. Free lunch, who can miss that?
Everyone was treated to a food truck lunch. There were two food trucks and we got to pick what we want to have. I picked Korean BBQ just because I didn’t get to try Korean BBQ during Employee Appreciation Day 2019. The food was yummy and that’s just about all I can say since I don’t really know how to describe food.
Everyone was also gifted with a large box of gift containing a lunch cooler among other things. The best part of the day was the generous bonus the company is giving everyone to help us combat all the shitty things 2022 has been offered so far – inflation, hike in fuel prices and food prices, etc. I honestly couldn’t believe my ears when I heard the news and wheels are immediately spinning in my head.
Where can I spend the bonus? Hmm…
I appreciate you stopping by and reading this week’s #weekendcoffeeshare, hope to chat again same time next week.
