Friday Fictioneers: Dream Forfeiture


The day she gave up her dream of growing her own food to become self-sufficient was the day a rare tornado ripped through her property. She blamed climate change because her area had no history of any historic tornadoes. The beastly tornado swallowed her greenhouse – where she grew her food in the snowy winters – and spat it out mangled with the glass windows and roof gone.

She cried, actually cried, when she saw the destruction. “Why?” She screamed at the sky, falling to her knees. “Why do you have to go and destroy the one thing I treasure the most?”
