Share Your World – Week of August 1, 2022

Do you ever feel more excited about getting the package in the mail, rather than the item that’s in it?

Actually, I usually feel both nervous and excited whenever I’m about to get a package in the mail. I’m excited because, um, it’s a package. I’m nervous because I often hope to receive it secretly as I’m not a fan of mom’s “what did you buy?” interrogations. She always needs to know what I’ve bought even though I bought it with my money. Then she’d give me the long drawn-out lecture about not spending my money wisely.

Um, again, it’s my money, shouldn’t I spend however I want? Besides, I’ve never asked anyone for anything. Unlike other children who get to beg their parents to get what they want, I didn’t have that luxury. So I made a promise to myself to get what I want when I have the money.

What is the difference between your ideal self and your real self?  (i.e. what attribute or physical feature would allow you feel the ideal ‘you’?)

My ideal self is over 5-feet tall with a slender face and figure and no adult acne. That’s everything my real self is lacking.

If you found $2,000 on the ground and there were no witnesses, what would you do with it?

I’m ashamed to say I’m one of those people who would just leave it. Let someone else handle it. I’m not sure whether that’s good thing or a bad thing.

Are you ever morally obliged to take action? Under what circumstances?

I would say most likely under life or death situations like if someone’s about to be run over by a car or if someone’s got a gun to someone’s head.
