What kind of vacations did you have as a child?
What is a vacation? Google defines the word as “an extended period of leisure and recreation, especially one spent away from home or in traveling.” Leisure is defined as “free time.” In that case, I’ve never had a vacation as a child.
I have never left my hometown as a child until I came to the U.S. The closest thing I had to a trip was visiting my grandmother’s hometown or the ancestral home on special occasions. Both were within the city limit of my hometown.
Have any of those remained favorites now that you’re an adult?
I’ve only visited my grandmother’s hometown once as an adult when I spent 4 months in China back in 2017. I wouldn’t call it my favorite but the scenery was nice though.
What has been your best vacation ever?
According to the Google’s definition of a vacation, the closest thing I can call a vacation is probably the one-night stay at a hot spring resort during my 4-month stay in China. It was truly a trip to slow down and enjoy some hot-spring soaks.
Though I have stayed in plenty of resorts, there was never a slow moment during the stay and I believe vacation is about taking things slow as opposed to the normal fast pace of life.
Do you prefer resorts where there are no kids allowed?
I wouldn’t mind having kids around though the concept of “no kids” is sure intriguing. Now, my imagination is running wild on an adult-themed resort.
I’m sorry that your childhood was bereft of fun and vacation trips Yinglan. You can make up for it by going on relaxing trips now.
