Happy Sunday! This week, Sophia of Photographias is the hostess for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge and this week, with the spring equinox on Monday, March 20, 2023, it’s all about spring.
Unfortunately, even with the spring equinox coming, spring hasn’t arrive yet. There is still rain and snow in the forecast accompanied by frost. Even my crocuses and hyacinths aren’t blooming yet and those are supposed to be the early birds.
This crocus is from last March. Last spring came extra early, I was gardening by the middle of March. This year, I’m still waiting for my soil to thaw.
Spring seems to catch me by surprise each year.
Spring isn’t a season, it’s this show that tests your patience. Everything changes overnight. If you take the same road to work each day, you will suddenly notice the suddenly pop of colors. Every flower blooms overnight like someone blew the whistle and said “go”.
The best place (I think) to see spring colors is definitely at the State Capitol. Two of the three photos featured in this post was taken there.
This year, I hope to bring some colors to my own garden for spring by planting some cool weather spring flowers like pansies and violas. Yesterday, I visited my usual plant nursery but was surprised to find their normally-large inventory of plant was missing in the greenhouse. There were only leafy greens, pansies, violas, and strawberries available. Thankfully, all I needed were some 6-packs of strawberries. I have plenty of flowers started from seed at home.
Anyway, wish me luck with my spring colors as long as the frost doesn’t kill it first.
All lovely.

I’ve been having the same problem, just waiting out for a tiny bit longer to have a go at all my seeds, it’s just too cold for anything now but at least it stopped snowing! Beautiful colours and photos.

Thank you. I have to put a pause on all my summer seeds and only focus on cold-hardy seeds for now. I hope you get to start your seeds soon. 🙂

Spring might tease a little before it arrives, but when it does, it doesn’t disappoint! That photo of the red flowers is very nice.

Spring is sure a big tease like this last weekend when it presented two days of spring-like weather before getting cold again. 😀

Very nice. I guess it might be a little early for you. I loved how you described it as someone said “go”. I guess we shall see your new spring garden in a few weeks.

Thank you. The amount of snow and rain we’ve had this winter has been incredibly overwhelming.
