Please note this is fiction!

3, 2, 1, and there goes the first bell. School is in session. I sigh and settle myself in my cubicle by Principal Ryan Gutierrez’s office. For the first time, I have a lady boss. Yay! I sure hope she’s better than a man boss though when I saw the name over the summer, I thought, Ryan? Another male principal? When will the feminine gender take charge? In my opinion, I think ladies make the best bosses.
I wake my computer, click into the solitaire app and begin playing solitaire. Unless there’s a kid with a bloody nose or a fight breaks out in the hallway, my day-to-day is actually very boring. Let’s just say my job as a school administrator is like a job at a customer service center – no customer, no work.
The moment I hear the click of a door opening, I minimize my game and look up. “Gemma, I’m going to do a hall patrol,” Ryan says, “make sure those loitering in the hallways get to class. Will you hold down the fort until I return?”
“Aye, aye Captain.”

Seems like a good job.

I spent my free period of my high school senior year volunteering as a high school administrative staff. I was lucky I had homework to keep me occupied but it’s a pretty boring job.

It wasn’t by choice since I had another class after, they wouldn’t let me go home. So it left me with this.
