If money was no object, what would be your ideal holiday?
The word, “holiday” reminded me of my train ride from Edinburgh to Glasgow. It was the first time I heard someone ask if my mom and I were on “holiday.” Mom immediately replied, “Yes, this is our vacation,” and then apologized right away, “sorry, we are Americans, we are not used to calling it a ‘holiday.'” She told people we were on a holiday for the duration of the trip. I found it amusing yet annoying as she would sometimes say it twice in the same sentence. Geez, just once is enough.
Anyway, if money was no object, my vacation would be slow, enjoyable, and relaxing. The location wouldn’t matter. I would not be walking so much and carry so much stuff on my back that my knees and shoulders are currently still aching. I would be in the First Class cabin with an assigned seat instead of anxiously waiting for my seat assignment.
Oh, and I would be staying in a large suite with multiple rooms as opposed to staying in a tiny room bumping elbows with a travel companion. Yes, I would probably bring someone with me despite wanting to travel alone.
Do you save for a holiday or put it on plastic to pay off later?
I think I do a little of both though I do prefer to not use my hard-earned savings to pay for a vacation. My recent trip to the UK was paid completely by credit card (mom paid for the airfare and hotel in London while I paid for everything else), which I’m positive I’ll be able to pay it off in a month-time.
Have you ever been on a cruise?
The only cruise I have ever been on was the river cruise from the Westminster Pier to the Greenwich Pier on the River Thames. I have no interest of being on a big boat for multiple days with limited Wi-Fi on the open seas. Not only am I worried about seasickness, the idea of being in the middle of the ocean terrifies me.
Do you send postcards or buy mementos?
I don’t send postcards. I buy postcards whenever I visit a new place. They are for me to remind myself of all the places I’ve been.

Thanks for sharing your world and current vacation status. I used to buy postcards to send home and for myself just in case my photos didn’t come out (no digital in those days).

My step-grandmother used to send me lots of postcards whenever she traveled. She was the one who got me interested in collecting postcards from my travels.
