How do you reply to controversial comments on your post or those addressed to you on the posts of others?

Easy, I don’t write about anything controversial and I don’t comment on anyone’s post of controversial topics. I’m with Sadje, I don’t see the point in such interaction. I feel it’ll either frustrate me or upset me and that’s not how I want to feel on my blog. My blog is my safe space. It’s a place for me to be happy and temporarily escape reality.

The most controversial topics you can find on my blog are probably about whether aliens exist or whether supernatural creatures exist. I’m yes on both, by the way. I think it’s healthy to imagine such things exist and it’s fun to imagine the things I’d do and say if I ever encounter such creature.

If you are looking for my opinions on politics, you won’t find it here. I don’t talk about politics, not here and certainly not in real life. I learned a hard and painful lesson on that as a child, an experience I don’t ever want to re-live.

Even now, I only watch the news for the weather and fun local events. The only thing I understand about politics is the basic structure of the US government – the one I learned in my history class. If I need to vote for someone, I do my research to find the candidates’ agenda, not of his/her personal life but his/her political agenda, and then vote according to the person I feel it’s the best, not who I like. Also, I am not my mom, I don’t go crazy to donate my hard-earn money to a certain candidate. She asked me to do that once and I said no way. I was glad I did because after she donated $35, they never stopped sending her mail to ask for more donation.

So, nothing controversial here.

  3. Our blogs and those who follow them are definitely polar opposite in comparison to the rest of the social media platforms
    All the negativity associated with others isn’t a norm here on WordPress, which is why I only use it.
    Those other platforms do have their pros as well but the cons are mostly large and highly toxic.
    I can’t bear it!

  6. I make comment on current events and social issues in a lot of my stories and poems, so I guess you could say I do write about controversial topics. But art has always been a form of protest and expression throughout history so I’d feel like I wouldn’t be a true artist if I didn’t. I think there was only one time when someone truly didn’t understand a story I’d written & even though I tried to explain it to them they still made it seem like I was the one being problematic and not my character, which is a huge difference, but they unfollowed me, I unfollowed them & that was the end of it. Tis the life of a writer I guess. There’s always gonna be someone who misunderstands you. Actually recently I got a really weird comment on a story that was supposed to be fun. They got all philosophical and I had no idea how to respond to it, so I just didn’t 😅

  7. I’ll write and respond about issues, too, and if a reader doesn’t understand, I’ll try to explain. But nowadays, a lot of regular, mundane issues can wind up being controversial so it’s kind of difficult to even say.
