Note: this is 100% fiction.
She used to watch from her bedroom window as her father tossed the cane into the front row of the truck and backed up of the driveway. It’s been like this ever since her mother disappeared when she was 5. Everyday, at around sunset, her father would get into the truck and head out to the lighthouse.
When she asked why the first time, her father said, “Someone needs to make sure the light is on and working so your mother can make her way back to us.”
Her mother’s disappearance had remained a cold case until one day, a hiker discovered human remains when he strayed from the trail. Those remains would be later IDed as her mother. She’s been dead for over 25 years.

Oh what a tragic story. Thanks Yinglan for joining in.

I think now she’ll have to find out who did it.
