#WeekendCoffeeShare – Long Travel Ahead

Good morning, I’m on the road today. I hope you can join me for a quick chat.

Where are we traveling to? You ask.

We have some long travel ahead. First, we are driving 3 hours from Monument Valley to Farmington, New Mexico to get a new sim card for my phone. When I arrived in Monument Valley yesterday after driving for over 8 hours, I found my phone in international roaming. It shouldn’t happen since I never left the state. I asked the people around if their phones were working, they all said yes.

So I decided to call my phone company aka my internet provider, who is typically easier to reach by going to a physical store than by phone. The AI just wouldn’t route me to anyone. I was just about to scream my head trying to tell it my issue had nothing to do with my home internet. Finally, I got a live person and I decided to give him a piece of my mind. “Do you know how hard it is to reach a live person?” I said.

Instead of helping me restoring my phone’s signal, he rendered my phone useless by taking away all service. After 45 minutes of waiting on him to return my call on my other phone, I decided to try again. Turned out, perhaps for my rudeness, my phone was suspended. The second agent was a little more helpful. She ran a few tests and told me my Sim card was unresponsive and recommended me to go to the nearest physical store to get a new SIM card.

So here I am, on Saturday, Christmas eve-eve, driving nearly 3 hours from Monument Valley, Utah to Farmington, New Mexico.

I am also frustrated that my aunt and uncle have decided to tag along yesterday. They have no clue where to go unless I provided them with directions and instructions. They’re also someone who are adamant on 3-square-meals a day and would make someone eat even though they are not hungry. Ever since the scammer mess on Monday, I can barely eat and sleep these days. The nightmares about overdrawn checking accounts and fraudulent credit card transactions haunts me every night.

Meanwhile, mom only talks to me when she wants something. I don’t know why I’m so eager to help. It is not benefiting me one bit.

It’s been a very frustrated and trying week to say the least. I just wish everyone would leave me alone. No more relatives demanding stuff. If you want to travel, then go, don’t ask me to plan it for you. If you have mail that needs reading, ask your child, don’t ask me, I’m not your child. Why does everyone come to me instead of figure things out themselves?

In the meantime, I will share a few images I captured on the road yesterday. Hope you enjoy.

  1. Curious about your carrier. Sounds like dealing with Charter/Spectrum. I’ve discovered that I can expedite my monthly service calls to them by just repeatedly pressing the “zero” every time the A.I. starts to talk, or more directly telling it to, “Shut the f__k up and connect me to a human.” (It apparently understands the expression and subsequently allows me to skip the zeros.) BTW, I’m always as courteous as possible to the actual humans, recognizing that they’re being used as the trash receptacles for the company’s worst problems and poor service. Even had some nice conversations with techs who’ve let me in on some tips and tricks.

    1. I have Xfinity mobile. I told the guy at the store about it when I went to the store and he agreed, their customer support sucks. The thing is I kept pressing 0 but the voice wouldn’t shut up. I was about to punch someone. I don’t think it’s the SIM card because I lost my service the moment I entered back into Navajo territory and didn’t gain service until I got to Page, AZ.
