Friday Fictioneers: Once a countrygirl…

Please Note: 100% fiction!

It’s the first time in a decade since I’ve been back to the farm. School and work have kept me away but as much as I want to say I’m now a city girl, I know deep down, I’m still very much a farm girl. It’s true then. Once a countrygirl, always a countrygirl.

As I drive up the dirt road leading to the farm, I can’t help but notice how neat the fields are. I wonder who gramps had entrusted to take care the farm.

I’m about to knock when he opens the door. I can’t believe it. Andy.

  1. There is always a sense of anticipation returning home after a long time. Great ending, I realised that Andy was perhaps only a small boy when the MC left to go to the city. I am sure she should not have been surprised, but maybe her memories had not changed.
