Friday Fictioneers: Wagon Shuttle Service

Please Note: 100% fiction!

This wagon has been part of his family for almost 200 years. His ancestors had used this to relocate from the plains to their home in the west. It remained a vital part on his ranch as he provided wagon rides to kids and families during October.

That was over a decade or so ago before an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) caused a blackout, not to mention rolling back civilization by a century. For years, abandon cars littered the roads and airplane debris scattered about random places. Meanwhile, he’s still running ranch and making a living shuttling people on his wagon.

  1. Yikes! An electromagnetic pulse can do that? I’m glad he was resourceful and well equipped to keep on going. It seems as though your MC could survive anything. Imagine what would happen if our survival networks went down – internet, power, communications etc. Wait – that could never happen – could it?

  2. Creative thoughts and ideas! The time of covered wagons is more than a century past. Could an EMP happen? Certainly. We stand on the edge, particularly these days. That’s why it is so important to write and express ourselves.

      1. Probably not but from the novels I’ve read and TV shows I’ve watched, people are unpredictable and one can never tell when a person decides to detonate an EMP to change the whole world.
