How many times do you respond to comments on your blog?
How many tiers of comments do you think are appropriate?
I think it’s only basic courtesy that me, being the owner and author of my blog, respond to comments on my post, whether with a like, acknowledging I read it, or a reply whether with a “thank you” or an emoji. I do apologize, though, I have not been as quick to reply comments as I have been in the past. I have been training myself to focus on work during work hour and not get distracted by other things.
I do try to peek, though, particularly while I’m nibbling on a bit of light lunch. It helps with work-life balance even though I would just be reading and not writing any comment. Seeing comments on my blog always put a smile on my face because it means my writing is connecting and relating to people. In real life, I often have a hard time connecting to people because of my lack of communication skills. I’m finding that people lose interest in the conversation with me in less than 5 minutes.
I usually try to keep the comments under 5 as one can only talk about one thing for so long without becoming long-winded. I typically will reply comments on a laptop because I loathe typing on my phone’s tiny screen. I have the Qwerty sliding keyboard installed but it always gets the words wrong when I’m trying to fast. I find typing on a physical keyboard much more accurate and quick, plus, I don’t have the problem as I do with the newly updated version of the JetPack app on my phone with needing to scroll through the comments to find the comment I want to reply to as Sadje described in her post.
You are so right. Answering comments is common courtesy, however, there are exceptions. Some just comment and ask you to follow their blog (which I won’t) and I consider answering a waste of time. 🙂

Ugh, I hate those and will usually check their url and if it’s junk, then I’ll put the comment into spam.

Thanks for sharing Yinglan. Yes keeping it under 5 is sensible. I’m trying to limit my responses too.

I always respond to every comment, but a responce to my response usually just gets a ‘like’ unless it’s a question, or a topic that prompts new thoughts.

It’s usually the same for me unless the other person has something to say about my comment.
