How do you feel about gardening and yardwork? Do you differentiate between them or are they basically the same in your book? Are they fun activities that are more hobby than chore, or are they tasks you’d pay good money not to ever do again if you could afford it?

Gardening and yardwork are absolutely not the same and will never be the same – one is enjoyable while the other is a chore.
In my book, yardwork is mowing the lawn and pulling weeds while gardening entails prepping the soil, transplanting, admiring flowers and plants, and harvests – all the fun stuff.
I don’t mind to have to mow the lawn but I don’t want to do it when the sun is like a laser beam to my skin despite it’s 6 PM. I do, however, mind pulling weeds, particularly bind weeds and weeds that produce sticky sap as a defense mechanism. They are absolutely tortorous to pull and I am envious for those who don’t have to deal with this but then, weeds are just plants in the wrong place and there are those everywhere.
Gardening, on the other hand, is a serious hobby of mine and I’ve sunk a lot of money to get started and maintaining it. I love the experimental part of it – trying different varieties and planting cool-weather vegetables in places to have harvest in the summer. I opened a new spot in the garden last night and connected it to water. It’s a shady spot and I planted lettuce, hoping I will get lettuce in the summer. Lettuce does not like hot weather, by the way, so if I can keep it cool, maybe the lettuce won’t become bitter and flower on me.
Cross my fingers!

Very interesting!

Your writing about gardening is so pleasant. I think if I lived in my house instead of renting it out, I would probably plant things because of you. Our gardens here have old sea sand as soil so it would be a work to make it good for growing things in. But, point is, you inspire me. Thank you.

Awww… I’m glad to inspire. 😀 I’m envious of your soil already. I have clay soil, which when it’s dry, it’s like cement. I’ve seen people build houses out of this soil. Gardening is a pleasant thing even though seeing plants die does make me sad but that’s part of life – plant grow and take nutrient and when they die, they give back in the form of compost, kinda makes me wish humans are like that.
