Six Sentence Story: Faint

The other side to last week’s story

Over the years, she has been on many dates with lots of guys ranging from being too emotionally immature for her liking to just plain weird. Let’s just say, she’s kissed a lot of frog but still, she landed with this somewhat of man-frog.

She knows what her friends say behind her back, she’s heard them call him a “bum” but she was tired of looking. She is 35, desperate to settle down, and the only feasible choices presented were him, – the “bum”, a guy with fainting spells, or a guy who either is an alcoholic or wears a cologne that smells faintly of alcohol.

She shivers at the thought of living with the guy with fainting spells, what a big baby, she thinks before the picture of her having to catch her husband as he fainted, it should be the other way around. Applying the final touch to her makeup, she neatly packs up her makeup bag before looking into the mirror, and force a faint smile before standing up and says, “Show time.”

Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Faint”.

  1. As Groucho Marx said, “I wouldn’t belong to a club that would have me as a member.”

Maybe she needs to realize she’s too desperate and anyone who would have her in this condition isn’t worth the having, as there are worse things than being alone.
