What do you see #245 – Heavenly Reunion

Please note: this is 100% fiction!

I cannot recall what I had imagined my reunion with my wife of 60 years in heaven would be like. Certainly not this – sitting in her favorite rocking chair on a lone pedestal knitting away. “Honey, you’ve been knitting since the first grandbaby was born, certainly you’re not going to knit for an eternity.”

She looks up and suddenly, I can see her wrinkles starting to fade. We are becoming ourselves again. “Why honey, I’ve been waiting for you. What took you so long?” She says in her southern drawl as she puts her knitting and stands up, revealing the beautiful blue dress I have always admired when we were just a couple of kids having the time of our lives.

I chuckle, “Why, someone must tie up some loose ends because departing for the afterworld.”

She holds out a hand and I take it. She gazes into my eyes as I gaze into hers, “I can stay like this for the next eternity,” she says.

“So can I.”
