#WeekendCoffeeShare – Feeling of Disorientation

Good morning! Welcome to #weekendcoffeeshare, hosted by Natalie of Natalie the Explorer, please still feel free to come on in and have a drink and a chat.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you this week has been long and disorienting. It’s disorienting because it’s the first week I’m transitioning into a new role at work. No, still not the one I applied for. I’m still in the same role, which I’ve been at for the last 6+ years, except I’m no longer doing the same tasks.

It felt very disorienting because, don’t forget, I’ve been doing these tasks has been my weekday routine for the at least the last 2 years ever since the company switched software, which resulted in switching from automatically billing to manual billing. Back to pre-computer, sort of.

Beginning this week, the new guy and my co-worker took over most of my job, leaving me with not much to do. So I started training for a new role, which was surprisingly, not hard. I suppose after doing the hardest job in the finance department, nothing will faze me.

Speaking of the new job, which I applied over 2 weeks ago, I passed the assessment and will be heading to a second interview on Tuesday. I wonder what those guys will ask. My interviewers will be the Director of Finance and the Controller and thankfully, I communicate very well with them and they’re some of the best people I know. Hopefully, I’ll do well.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you it’s been another dry week. The heat wave continued with unrelented heat. The forecast showed the temperature would start cooling down after Tuesday but so far, all it did was dropping from 103-degrees-Fahrenheit (39.4-degrees-Celsius) to 95-degrees-Fahrenheit (35-degrees-Celsius). It sprinkled a few drops of rain last night that not only didn’t wet the floor but it dried out the soil to the point that it was stressing out my cucumbers.

We are stuck in a weird weather pattern, said the meteorologist, where it’s sunny and hot in the morning while it’s windy, cloudy, and storm in the afternoon and evening. It’s very annoying, I tell you.

I was glad to had captured this photo a few nights ago when the sky finally cleared up. These are my annual salvia. It’s been a reliable self-seeder for the last 2 years. The pollinators after love this plant. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a hummingbird fluttering in the heat of the day a few days ago. They love these tubular shaped flowers.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I’ve been plagued by strange dreams lately, which is affecting my sleep. Have you ever had these dreams where in the dream, you’re reaching for something or you’re just about to uncover some big secret but your brain decided you’ve had enough fun and jolts you awake?

Yeah, that’s what is happening me every night. I don’t understand why my brain has to do this to me. Can it just allow me this one time to reach a perfectly good conclusion?

I appreciate you stopping by. Until next we chat. 🙂

    1. Thank you.
      Yeah, the mind is a strange and fascinating place. These dreams are so annoying but they seemed to have stopped in the last couple of days. Hopefully, that will help me get some sleep.

  1. It’s very helpful for you to feel that you know the two people who will be interviewing you for the open position! If selected, would one of them be your direct manager? Is the open position, a supervisory position where you would be responsible for managing other people? Have you become comfortable with a salary position instead of hourly as you like the overtime pay now? So much wonderful whirling around! 🤞{{{ hugs}}}

    Because we are having virtual coffee, I will compliment you on your lovely garden. I feel for your cucumbers feeling parched from the 103 dry front even though it cooled to a less toasty 95. We reach a record day with a high of 100 this week. We live in high humidity tropical conditions. The temperature cooled to 86 in the early morning close to sunrise, so Yorkie and I were able to take a 25 minute walk on the sea wall that is a 3 mile drive from our home. Your beautiful salvia appears to have grown extremely tall and must be giving excellent sugar water for the hummingbirds. I keep two hummingbird feeders on our front porch shade that are frequent by hummingbirds and wood peckers.

    Yes, I have had those types of sleeping dreams. I have a mix of nightmares and lovely romantic dreams. As we go to bed, I tell Yorkie every night Sweet Puppy Dog Dreams.

    Enjoy our coffee time chat ☕️🤞{{{hugs}}}

    1. Yes, one of them would be my direct manager. No, it’s not a supervisory position, I will just be another team member contributing to the department.
      Wow, if 100 is your record, then that’s not bad but I don’t really like the humidity.
