Six Sentence Story: Wreck

A night wrecked by a friend who looks like a wreck

Just was I was settling in to get through the last 5 episodes of a TV show, I was interrupted by a series of quick knocks at my door, “who dares not let me relax,” I muttered angrily as I pulled open the door.

It was none other than my friend, Rachel, and what the hell happened to her face, she look like a wreck – her mascara was running down her cheeks, her eye-shadow was all smudged around her eyes, her nose was redder than a crown on red nose day, and her lips, oh my goodness, don’t get me started on those swollen sausages. “What happened?”

“He…” she sniffed, “dumped…” more sniffing, “me…” she finished exploding into a loud dramatic sob that I doubt was accompanied by tears.

I wrapped my arms around her like a good friend, at least that’s what I think I’m trying to be, “here, here,” I consoled as she sobbed into my comfy cotton t-shirt. So much for a night in, I thought, wrecked by the hot mess that is my friend, Rachel.
