Happy Saturday! Welcome to WeekendCoffeeShare! Come on in from the cold and let’s get you something hot or cold (your choice). As always, thank you to Natalie of Natalie the Explorer for hosting our weekly Saturday shindig.

I’m trying to recall if anything out of the ordinary happened this week and I can’t. It might be because I’ve been suffering from a pulsing headache for much of the week. I don’t know whether it’s because I’m dehydrated from the lack of humidity or that I went out for a walk in 21-Fahrenheit (-6-Celsius) temperature on Monday.
I tell ya, it was so cold when I went out on my walk that day, so cold that I didn’t take any pictures despite the beautiful blue skies and the crisp air. The air was so crisp and icy. To go out, I had to put on my woolen hat, woolen scowl, and woolen gloves, plus my new electric hand-warmer. As I walked, my hand-warmer was on the highest settings and I gripped onto that thing like my life was dependent on it.
It was, without it, I would’ve turned and ran back less than 2 minutes into my walk. It was that cold.
The rest of the week improved just a little, at least the sun warmed up my veggie bed enough to allow me to bring some of the seedlings out to harden. I know it’s early for my climate but with the 6-mm nursery plastic, I think I can transplant some of the seedlings by the end of next week. I might wait, though, we’ll see.
On Thursday, with the humidity level in my bedroom dropping to 19% and my headache persisting, I decided to try to hydrate myself with some concentrated electrolyte (Liquid IV). It’s a powder that helps the body take in water more readily. After doing 2 days of Liquid IV, my headache finally subsided a little and I’m now just beginning to feel better.
What else happened this week?
Oh right!
I found out this week my director of finance is leaving the company. I was absolutely speechless when I found out but am now starting to feel a little heartbroken that he’s leaving. He’s leaving to go work for his family business instead. As much as I feel happy for him, I’m nervous as what’s to come for the department.
Will the next person be just as nice and friendly? And funny?
I am looking forward to next week as we say goodbye to the coldest and most boring month of the year and welcome February. Until next we chat…

Wow, your humidity levels are really low. I’ve just check my bedroom and it is 70%. High yes. The dehumidiators have been working overtime. HAve you thought of putting a humidifier in your room? I hope your headache clears soon.

I’m feeling a lot better now after 3 days of Liquid IV. It’s recommended to drink about a gallon (3.78 L) of water per day to stay hydrated, I can never drink this crazy amount.
I haven’t thought about putting a humidifier in my room but I feel that if I should put one in other areas of the house. The humidity doesn’t usually hit the 30% range unless it’s raining outside. It’s so ridiculously dry here that the humidity level is sometimes less than 10% in the summer.
70% humidity is very high, by my standards.
