Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #343 – Seen on my Last Outing

Happy Sunday! Anne-Christine from Leya is the lovely host of this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge and she is asking about my last outing. Hmm…

My last outing was supposed to be yesterday. A few days ago, when I was heading into the office for work, I drove by the Utah state Capitol to find the Yoshino cherry blossoms were blooming. I was ecstatic because we have always gone to the Capitol to welcome spring each year with a few dozen pictures of the beautiful cherry blossoms. On April 3rd, I received a notification on my phone that the cherry blossom at the state capitol was near peak.

Perfect timing, right? Unfortunately, when we arrived at the Capitol, trying to find parking, there was none. There were large groups of protesters gathered in front of the building. Don’t people have better things than to ruin someone’s perfectly cherry blossom viewing Saturday?

With all that out of the way, it would make my last outing about 2 weeks before when I was in Taiwan.

That was my mom and my last day in Taiwan before we came home. We spent it taking an almost 90-minute long bus trip heading from Taipei to the coast to Yehliu to see some odd rock formations. The opening picture was taken at the park at what’s called a candelabra. Can you see the tiny balls of rocks that look like candles?

This is the Dragon’s head.

It’s funny. My mom and I were reminiscing about this trip yesterday and she had a picture of her and this rock formation, except she was standing on the other side of the rock, meaning a mirror image of this one. What’s funny was the mirror image looked like a dog’s head and not just any kind of dog, it looked a little like Clifford the big red dog.

Photographing this type of landscape was my favorite part of not only the day but the entire trip because I found it fun to try to capture the water crashing on the rocks mid-action. I found the challenge quite fun and exciting.

      1. Ah I see. I’ve been watching some Japanese shows on Netflix, which is covered with my phone plan. I try to watch those in native language as well but sometimes, when I just want to listen, I would change it to English-dubbed, just to not to put too much pressure on my brain.

  1. An interesting outing, Yinglan! I love stone and cliff formations. My husband is going to Taiwan this Autumn, and if you have more spectacular outings to show from there – please tell me!

    1. Thank you. Unfortunately, my mom is a history lover and not into nature-related things, so this was the only natural place we went to while in Taiwan. Beside this, we visited museums, shopped, and ate. If your husband is a foodie, Taiwan is the perfect place for him.
