It’s the second May Bank Holiday here in the UK and the kids are on half term break. In your country, do schools have a ‘Half Term’ break?

It’s Memorial Day today. I have it off. Thank goodness because I didn’t get home until late last night from my road trip. I

The schools in each city, county, and state get out at different times of the year. Some early, some late but usually within a week or two of one another. The school year in my state generally runs from August to late May, early June at the latest. I think most of the kids are out on their summer break right now.

Education methods have changed a lot since I left school in 1972. Would you like to be learning in a classroom of today?

No, I would not. C

Classrooms have changed quiet a bit from when I was in school. A lot more technology is being and has been adapted. I can’t see myself learning in a classroom in this day and age, simply because there are so much that’s now available online.

Did you leave school as soon as you could, or did you go on to study for a degree or other higher education?

After high school, I spent an additional 7 years in multiple colleges and universities getting 2 Bachelor’s degrees. I’m only using the accounting degree these days for work though the engineering degree does come in handy when building backyard trellises.

When you entered the working world, did your job require ‘qualifications’ or did you learn on the job?

Yes, my job did entailed some qualification, most of which required knowing how to use the financial accounting software, which I doubt any candidate will know how to do as it was fairly new on the market when I first applied for the job. I ended up learning most of it on the job.
