#WeekendCoffeeShare – Home after a Road Trip

Happy Saturday! A big thanks to Natalie of Natalie the Explorer for hosting WeekendCoffeeShare.

I am home after 6 days on the road and let me tell you, I am exhausted, especially after having to drive most of the 2,500 miles.

One thing I was glad about this road trip is my aunt didn’t come along. It was just me and my mom, much less anxiety and less for me to handle. My aunt had bailed on the road trip in the last second as she was suddenly called back to work at the cookie factory. So she bailed on the road trip and elected to stay home and water my garden.

Since it was just me and my mom, the itinerary became a little flexible. We followed a rough itinerary I created but ended up making quite adjustments along the way like driving 100 miles to Moab, Utah and visiting Los Alamos and New Mexico’s Capitol in Santa Fe. My mom triggered an inflammation in her body on the first day of the road trip, so we also had to make adjustment for that.

It was also the reason why I ended up driving most of the trip and why the trip was cut short. We were supposed to be drive back on Friday but instead, I drove us home on Thursday. It was another 10+ hours driving day for me. Thankfully, there was cruise control and automatically steering to help me.

All in all, it was a great road trip.

I’ll have to say that best part was I got to drive as opposed to the past road trips I’ve taken with my mom where I was the passenger. I don’t like to be the passenger, at least not on long car rides.

I also got a take #2 at Forrest Gump Point, which I didn’t get to capture the last time I went to Monument Valley because the view got blanketed by fog. Although, I have to say, there’s no camera in the world that can do Monument Valley justice, it’s just too majestic of a view to be captured on camera, it must be seen with a naked eye, not through a lens.

I also got to go to a few places I’ve been wanting to go like Gooseneck State Park and Goblin Valley State Park.

Now, all I can say is, it’s so good to be home.
