Six Sentence Story: Breed

Susan and her aunt enjoy a walk in the local park from time to time when the weather’s nice and if Susan is feeling like she can tolerate the words that come out of her aunt’s mouth. Yes, it truly takes a special kind of person to tolerate such behavior.

The last time she and her aunt went for a walk, they passed by a family of ten, as the folks passed, her aunt commented, “These folks are just breeding like rabbits, aren’t they?”

Okay, Susan wasn’t entirely surprised by that, what she’s surprised by was when they passed a family of five with the three boys struggling to catch their breath on leveled ground, her aunt clicked her tongue and said, “how do they breed them these days? How do people get so fat and out of shape?”

Instead of holding her tongue as she always did, Susan, who used to be one of those kids because of her autoimmune disorder, piped up and defended, “how do you know they are not affected by illness?”

    1. I was thinking of my mom and her siblings when I wrote this story. They have absolutely no filter when it comes to the words that flow out of their mouth. I don’t know whether to feel sad for them or not.
