As a child, Pilot Johnson asked his mother, “why did you name me Pilot?” His mother replied, “Well, to be honest, I wanted to name you Jack but your father insisted on naming you Pilot to set you up for a future as an aviation pilot, ‘what’s better than a pilot name Pilot’ your father liked to say.”
Since that day, Pilot’s future felt as though it’s been set in stone, he would graduate at the top of his class and would tell anyone who would listen that he would be an airplane pilot. “A pilot named Pilot,” kids would laugh mercilessly.
After enlisting in the air force, completing his pilot training, and logging in all the hours, he was finally ready to begin his career as a commercial airplane pilot. At the job interview, the interviewers had to double-check Pilot’s name on his resume, “Well, what do you know, a pilot named Pilot.” The group of white-haired old men had to have a laugh before they start interviewing Pilot, interrogation-style.
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Pilot”.

It’s a good thing he really did want to be a pilot. If he hadn’t, would his father have disinherited him?

I’m afraid to find out how his dad would react if he didn’t want to become a pilot. Thankfully, this was a happy ending.
