#WeekendCoffeeShare – Hello November 2025

Happy Saturday to all! A big thanks to Natalie of Natalie the Explorer for hosting WeekendCoffeeShare this and every weekend.

Is it me or was October went by rather slowly? Perhaps it’s because the weather is cooling down and the days are getting shorter? Perhaps it’s just me because my list of garden tasks are getting shorter. I feel like I’m not doing much to the current garden but planning for the 2026 garden.

As of yesterday, all the 2025 summer crops have been killed by frost and have been chucked into the compost pile. My new compost bin came this week and I got it completely filled late yesterday. It was an open-bottom compost system designed to hold around 250 gallons of compost.

I had two 137-gallons bags of garden waste from the last few weeks and it completely filled the bin. As I was moving one of the bags aside to put in the bin, I saw the biggest worm in the soil beneath the bag. What was it eating to get so big? I have no idea because the bag’s bottom was inaccessible. I later checked and found no perforation on the bottom. Hmm… Either way, I think the worms will have a feast now after dumping so much plant debris in that spot.

I spent this week listening to an audiobook I bought a few years ago. It’s titled The One Man. In fact, this book is listed on my Goodreads profile along with a review. I bought the book because of the synopsis. This book had me riled up and I was at work. It had me pounding my fists on my desk as I felt like I was there in the story following alongside the characters. It’s been a long time since a book has done this to me but I guess that’s what a good narration does, it makes us readers feel like we’re there.

I finished October by moving the vegetables from the grow bag to the available spots in the raised beds. I did that because I will be replacing all the grow bags with something a little more permanent. I don’t know what I was thinking when I installed the grow bags back in February. Oh wait, I know. I put grow bags instead of raised beds because my mom wouldn’t allow me to add more raised beds.

As much as I love growing in grow bags, I hate that the soil dries out too fast, especially during the summer. It’s also next to impossible to water because it’s porous on all sides, meaning the sides can never be watered.

In November, I will have the chance to do this project because my mom will be traveling to Asia for three weeks, leaving me alone to mind my own business. Yay! When I heard she finally bought the airlines 2 days ago, I felt like I could dance, but then she was having second thoughts and wanted to cancel the trip. Suddenly, my heart sank because I ordered ahead 6 round metal raised beds to be installed while she’s gone.

Thankfully, she can only cancel within 24 hours following purchase. That 24 hours is almost up as I’m writing this and I think she’s let her friend know, so no backing out now.

Crossing my fingers that I will get those 3 weeks of peace in November.

I appreciate you stopping by, have a wonderful week ahead!

    1. Yes, there are special bags in which many people grow plants in. I find them good to grow large vegetables in, like tomatoes and squashes but you’ll either have to dunk the bag into a kiddie pool to water every time or use a passive watering system. I also find them not aesthetically pleasing.
