Happy Sunday! John is the host for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge and he’s chosen a fun theme – On the Move!
I do not like air travel for reasons that are probably similar to many people – getting through TSA, having to be at the airport hours before, the cramp economy seats, restriction on luggage, etc. That doesn’t mean I don’t like to look at airplanes. Watching planes arriving and taking off is my favorite activity to do at an airport and it’s a definite plus when I don’t have to watch it behind a thick pane of glass.
This is on one of my favorite roads to drive. The road is a continuous uphill switchbacks all the way to the top that only allows a maximum speed of 20 mile/hour and trust me, I’ve tried to go a little faster on this road but with the sharp curves between such short distances, 15 to 20 mile/hour is all I can do.
When I drove up this road in September, as I was nearing the top, I had to pass these two bicycler who I had to applaud them for their dedication because I would’ve had a hard time walking up that steep incline. By the time I reached the parking lot at the top, stepped out of the car for a few photos, I finally saw these bikers reach the top. It was about 10 minutes later and as I stood there and took the picture, I silently cheered for them.
If there’s something to know about me, it’s that I am incapable of operating 2-wheel vehicles – motorcycle, bicycles, what else? This is because of my vision imbalance, which affects my overall balance. So when I see a herd of motorcycles on the road and I have my camera handy, yes, I’m taking the photo.
Lastly, when I don’t have a deadline on my garden projects and when my mom’s not around, I am always thinking of impromptu road trips. I love to travel by car because I get to catch the scenery. On a plane, the only scenery for most of the ride is the clouds. I also feel traveling by car is also a more relaxing way to travel because when you’re off the interstate and on a stretch of scenic byway with turnouts, you can stop and really take in the views and landscapes. What do you think?

I’m working on two Travel Tuesday posts for later this month focusing on our October trip this year where I let Gemini AI route us off the Interstates. I learned a lot about the strengths and weaknesses of AI for route planning, and all it all, it was a positive experience, but not without its pitfalls.

Thank you. Ah, I let Google take charge on a road trip 2 years ago and it took me on a beautiful adventure before arriving at my destination. Letting AI plan a trip is certainly interesting, I look forward to reading your post.

Yinglin, great collection of different ways to move from place to place. I admire those bicyclists for making it up that road! That’s not for me. Like you, I prefer taking the back roads when we travel.
