The Flower Hour #41: Tiny Wonders

I am trying out a new macro lens for my phone this week. It’s part of a kit that comes with a super wide angle lens. I have been shopping for a lens attachment for my phone for a while now. There are actually not that many options online but the existing options are already too many. I decided to go with one with the most reviews.

My phone technically have 3 lenses but most of the time, I only shoot with one because I like to shoot in RAW and 2 of the 3 lenses will only give me 12-megapixels of resolution. My chosen lens will give me 50-megapixels in resolution.

This is one of the many flowers on my cinnamon basil plant. If you don’t know what a cinnamon basil plant look like, you will need to do a quick search. The flowers are miniscule and to be able to get a close up of such a tiny flower on a phone camera is amazing. Also, at a fixed aperture of f/1.8, the depth of field in this picture is amazing.

If you are wondering if the plant smells like cinnamon, well, I can’t tell what it smell like. There’s definitely a sweet smell to it though but it’s a different kind of sweet from the cotton-candy smell of the holy basil.

Lobelia, another tiny flower, and I was surprised to find this different from the others. I love this pattern, it looks like someone splattered blue paint on a light blue flower. In the past, I have only ever been able to photograph this plant as a whole, never a lone flower but now, I can, thanks to the new macro lens.

I am so far beyond impressed with this lens and can’t wait to experiment some more with this macro and the super wide angle lens.
