I have been wondering what to post for this week’s Flower Hour. The weather lately has been so tricky that the weather forecasters haven’t been able to predict the weather until a few hours before the event. Watching the forecast every night, the meteorologists kept hinting that we’re getting a reprieve from the monsoon, yet day after day, we’re being threatened by impromptu thunderstorms.
With all this unpredictable weather, I haven’t been able to spend as much time in the garden as I would like. On those nights when the weather looked like it’d hold, I would push until I couldn’t see what I was doing and then, there were nights like Monday night when I had to be stuck inside, half watching whatever was playing on the TV while the other half of my attention was looking at my garden being bashed around like a piñata in the wind when I was promised nearly 1-inch of rain.
Fortunately, before that happened, I was able to spend a few minutes in the garden, checking on the root vegetables I sowed in late July. What caught my eyes were the wildflowers growing alongside the fence. I sowed these wildflowers last winter since it looked like either I grow grass or I grow flowers. I chose flowers. Though I have no idea what kind of seeds I’ve sowed nor do I know what these flowers are called, I think they are very pretty and guess what, sometimes, that’s all it matters.
