#WeekendCoffeeShare – PVC Projects

Happy Saturday!

This week, I finally started on a project I’ve been planning with Google Gemini since the beginning of the month and that’s to build greenhouses over some of the raised beds.

Though I started planning this at the start of the month, this has been a project I wanted to do for a long time but I was just lack of inspiration. I’ve searched the internet and Pinterest for DIY greenhouse frames and wasn’t yielding results. Am I typing in the wrong search terms? Why am I only seeing results for PVC pipe tables and shelves?

So I decided to turn to AI. I drew a design in my notebook and showed it to AI via a photo. Then, it was down to material and measurement. Believe it or not, I had to correct AI on math and measurements.

The frame itself took a little time to put together since, it turned out, AI was off on the measurement by a few inches. Fortunately, the measurements were over-estimated, not under. So all I had to do was give each pipe a quick trim. After constructing the frames, it was time to put on roof. In case you can’t tell, the roofs have a dark fabric. I call that a permanent shade as it’s a 30% shade fine mesh fabric. With all the wind storms in my area in the last few years, I decided I want to minimize the use of cloth draping over a frame.

The insect fabric that’s on the frames right now are temporary. I’m going to be working on constructing removeable doors this weekend to try to close the raised bed to insects for good. When it’s all done, the plants in the bed should have permanent shade and insect protection. Hopefully, I won’t have to worry about earwigs, catepillars, and grasshoppers attacking my vegetables next year.

I still have a few projects involving PVC pipes like a PVC pipes seedling station or a PVC pipe garden station. It’s just a matter of finding the time to get the materials and do the projects. By the end of these projects, my garden will truly look like a PVC garden.

Anyway, a big thank you as always to Natalie hosting Weekend Coffee Share and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
