It’s been a very strange December so far. It should be winter but it’s feeling like spring or fall. If I’m a plant, I would be confused because I am confused by the warm weather and I’m human. I mean, you have no idea the amount of restrain I’ve mentally placed on myself to not take my box of seeds and go into the garden and scatter the seeds even though I know it would not germinate until the spring because that’s just how smart plants are.
I went out into the garden yesterday afternoon in my short sleeves shirt because the temperature was in the mid-60’s and believe me, I’m not complaining, it’s just a little strange to be this warm in December. The only things still in bloom lies in my personal meadow, which had self-sowed calendula and alyssum sometime during the summer. I think the orange and yellow really bring a pop of color in months like December when things slow down.

Pretty! It’s just the opposite in the Mid-Atlantic. Cold as hell but I like the different seasons.
