I was so looking forward to the Super Blood Moon and the Lunar Eclipse on Sunday but I didn’t get to see it. I was so disappointed. There were too much clouds that night. I stood on my front porch, urging, “Come on, clouds, just move over one tiny inch.”
*sigh* The clouds just wouldn’t budge. The picture above was shot on Saturday night. The sky had already darken but somehow my camera kept making the pictures look so light. The ISO was automatically set to 800 and the shutter speed was exceptionally slow, 1/10 second. I even had to enter to digital zoom. That’s why everything around it is so blurry. While the clouds wouldn’t move last night, I did somehow kind of successfully captured the beginning of the eclipse. Yes, I know, I have a very sucky camera.
This is also ISO 800 but with an even slower shutter speed, 1/4 seconds. Don’t look at me, I didn’t do anything. You know the weird thing though?
About 30 miles away in Salt Lake City, people were witnessing the eclipse in perfect clarity. I watched the live footage on the news. So it looks like the clouds are just playing games with me. Ugh!

I am also disappointed, Had heavy clouds, Well less heavy, was pouring down.

Came in and out here (west of you). Through my office window, I could occasionally see the moon as it passed between clouds. But mostly, it was hidden.

I haven’t see the moon in a while, mostly because I choose to snuggle in my blanket in front of the TV every night but the one time I really want to see the moon, it won’t let me. 😦

Sorry you couldn’t see the eclipse. It was clear here, to see, but my pictures turned out blah.

I guess it’s ok, it’s not the last I’ll see. The next one is in 2033, not a long way away. Then, I’ll be ready.

Try setting the Auto White Balance to “Cloudy” or “Shade” and make the picture style “Vivid”. I usually have these settings for my moon shots. It will significantly reduce the moon’s brightness and will show the face… 🙂

Thanks, the second picture was actually set to vivid. Next full moon, hopefully I will be able to try it. Let’s see if I have school that night. 🙂

Same problem where I live. Cloudy at the beginning so we did not get to see a dramatic large harvest moon. 😦

If only the eclipse occurred in the summer, then that would guarantee everyone has a great cloudless view.
