Of course, the letter “w” is for writing. Throughout the challenge, I’ve tried to steer clear of the obvious ones like “i” for inspiration or “s” for stories or even “q” for quotes. I’ve been trying to be creative with my word choices and I could’ve chosen “w” for wishes or wisdom but I chose writing instead. Why? I don’t know.
I think this quote describes a lot of writer perfectly. Writers are dreamers. Writers can come up with a fictional reality so real that when one reads it, they would think they’re in it.
I consider myself a dreamer. Throughout the day, multiple scenarios are often playing in my head and none of them are my own. They’re all fantasy and they are all potential stories.
I recently came to a realization that I might need a mentor or a collaborator, someone who is willing to run ideas with me and perhaps help me piece together a novel because sometimes, writing alone, all by myself is a little lonely. Of course, I can toss ideas back and forth by myself but after a while, even that gets old. So I think having another writer who I can bounce ideas off of would be nice. After all, somethings are meant to do with two people.
I was a Toastmaster and I thought my fellow members could help me with writing. Unfortunately, almost everything else collided. My fellow Toastmasters have no clue what is a YA novel. So that didn’t work out.
Then a while back, I joined a local writing group on Meetup. They meet once a week but of course, I can’t go. It’s 40 miles away and it’s on Thursday evening. Unless I can come up with a legitimate, believable excuse of why I have to go out on Thursday evenings, I can’t go and the excuse can’t be work. My mom knows I have no work at night.
However, last week, I found a better way, an online forum. It’s called Writer’s Den. You may have seen it in t’s hosted by fellow WP blogger, The Voice. It’s a place for writers to share their work while asking for help, if necessary.
I’m super excited to have found such a place. It’s so convenient. It’s online, I don’t have to drive, and my mom doesn’t have to know. I hope our little group of writers grows bigger.

Our church used to have a writing team. The group worked together and produced two full length musicals before its members went their separate ways. It was awesome and scary!

The scary part is when everyone lose interest and go their separate ways.

i have to agree that it gets lonely to have to idea and write by yourself. it’s tough to bounce ideas off only one person, but i’ve had times where i’ve had a bouncer and yet we never bounce my ideas only hers. so, i’ve been in both boats.

I think in order for a bouncer to be successful, both the writer and bouncer have to have similar interests. For example, both have to be interested in YA fiction. Otherwise, it’ll be the same as doing it alone.

Writer’s Den sounds great. I need to check into that. I’m in a group of freelance writers and we support each other, but mostly I’m on my own with my books. It can be lonely at times, especially when you need help coming up with an idea or getting past a sticky part in your plot.

I absolutely agree. I’ve been at the point where I’m stuck in the middle of my story so many times that I eventually gave up and the story just became another draft in the pile.

Oooh thanks for telling us about this writers den. And you’re right writers really are dreamers but we’re still in touch with reality even though people on the outside looking in may not always think so. I usually toss around ideas with my sister who also likes to write, but I’m here if you ever need someone to help you come up with and piece together ideas 😀

I was glad too to have learned about Writer’s den.
How lucky to have someone to toss idea. I will keep that in mind when I need someone to toss ideas around. 🙂 Thank you for reading.
