Share Your World – 2016 Week #22

Every country in the world has lost men and women in some kind of Armed Forces. When does your country celebrate or morn their deaths? (Optional)

I know in the U.S., people honor lost men and women on the last Monday of May. Meanwhile, in China, my relatives and I would go visit the graves during the first week of April. We call it, “清明” or Qingming Festival. Apparently, it translates to Tomb Sweeping Day. That’s the same thing, right? This festival goes through the month of April where people go to their love ones’ graves and usually leave a roast pig. Then they burn some fire crackers and of course people eat.

What is your favorite holiday or holidays?Pumpkin_Pie

My favorite holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas because I like that they are so close together and of course, the pies and cakes we get to eat during these times.

How do you celebrate that holiday?

How else? We eat!

  1. I was a guest in the USA for thanksgiving ten years ago this November. I was made to feel very welcome by Andrea’s family, though a bit of misinterpreting took place somewhere when one of the gents of the family said “welcome to the family”.

    1. I’m not really familiar with those traditions either until I looked on Wikipedia to see the true meaning. 🙂 Other than that, I just followed what my relative did on those occasions.
