#WeekendCoffeeShare: People with Anxiety

Good afternoon and thank you for joining me for this lovely chat on this Sunday. The weather today is quite awful. We have rain with a possibly of snow.  Why don’t you come sit and I’ll make you a hot cocoa?

If we were having this lovely conversation, I would tell you I have not feeling so great lately. I’ve been having intermittent headaches and a consistent tick in my left hand. I had tried Aspirin but it didn’t help much. My mom said it’s a sign of stroke and told me to be careful.

That made me more afraid than ever because my grandpa (mom’s dad) had multiple stroke but survived and my dad was gone at the age of 33 due to a heart attack.

What if I’m just like them? Especially because I’m constant anxious?

If we were having this lovely conversation, I would tell you my mom doesn’t understand General Anxiety Disorder (GAD). She doesn’t understand why anyone would be anxious about nothing. “Well, that’s what people with GAD do, they are constantly anxious.” This frustrates me because I’m a person with GAD and feels like no one understands.

If we were having this lovely conversation, I would tell you my mom has been in Hong Kong this entire week. It’s been so nice being alone. After dropping her off at the airport last Sunday, I immediately went to the supermarket and bought the things I wanted to eat – salad, balsamic vinegar salad dressing, cheese, pickles, deli meats (turkey and ham), and tomatoes.

I was going to make my own bread and make a sandwich for Monday but my bread failed. I didn’t fully understand the concept of “kneading.” After watching a video on kneading, I tried again on Monday and succeeded. However, I still thought the bread was much too dry and discovered my mistake yet again. You can see my previous post for pictures of my most recent attempt.

Since my mom wasn’t here this week, I was responsible for my own meals. Therefore, I took the opportunity to study recipes during my lunch hour at work. Here are some other things I made this week.

If we were having this lovely conversation, I would thank you for joining me and hopefully we both can be here again next weekend having hot drinks.

  1. I am frustrated with WordPress. I am a lot of problems with it. I tried to update my blog. I thought I had and it than disappear in me. I am not sure what the trouble is. I probably have GAD. Your bread looks lovely.

    1. WordPress acts out sometimes. Unfortunately, there’s little we can do about it since we are not in control of the site. I hope whatever problems you’re experiencing with WordPress will be resolved soon.

  2. I do not want to add to any anxiety… but rice has high levels of a bad form of arsenic. That is why i don’t eat a whole lot of it. And eating a lot of it can possibly exacerbate anxiety disorders. I would suggest curtailing eating rice for a significant period and see if that makes a difference. See the following two links:

    1. People in my family, for some reason, don’t understand anything about mental health. I mean, just because someone has depression doesn’t mean he/she is crazy.

      1. I understand completely. My family is/was the same way. But over the years I think they have learned (from my experience and their own experiences) that mental illness/depression/anxiety is very real and very painful.

  3. Loved your food choices, sounds just like what I’d have bought.. and kudos on your bread! I’m sure it was awesome even if not exactly how you planned it – homemade bread is delish.. Hopefully the meditation helps you, and if anything, know that your coffee buds understand! ((HUGS)) And I hope you’re feeling better soon.. Enjoy your time alone, it can be blissful!
