Residing the intermountain region of the United States, I’m pretty much landlocked. My typical sceneries are mountains, mountains, and more mountains.
When I am in need of a change of scenery, I find myself seeking either a forest or a body of water.
Thankfully, there are plenty of lakes, rivers, and reservoirs nearby. I can either take a 10-minute drive to this semi-manmade lake and admire the golden reeds while watching geese play in the water and the ducks wobble clumsily on their webbed feet or I can drive 100 miles eastward to this beautiful forest at an elevation of 10,000 feet with crisp fresh air and about a dozen lakes.
Personally, I like the forest better. Too many people at the lake and I love my solitude.
The forest is beautiful, Yinglan. I can see why you love it there. It is strange being land-locked. I missed the ocean so much when we lived in Michigan. But it’s always the case that we miss the places where we grew up and spent a lot of time. Have a good week!

Both photos are very nice, but I am particularly drawn to water!

Thanks. I think it might be one of those human conditions as we all seem to be drawn toward water.
