Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #188: Special Places

This week, on Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #188, guest host Karina of Murtagh’s Meadow is exploring special places.

I have more than one special place and recently, my neighborhood park has become my number-one go-to place when I need space to think or just to relieve stress. I like to put my earbuds in, open the Amazon Music app on my phone and put on a random song, and then I start walking.

My second special place has always been the mountains and I love to go explore them during the warmer months. One of my many life mottos when traveling is “the higher the better.”

My favorite go-to mountain to explore is the Uinta Mountains, located in Eastern Utah, about 100 miles from home. Ever since I discovered the magnificent scenery of Mirror Lake in 2017, I have been re-visiting this place ever since with the exception of 2021.

In the summer of 2020, in searching for a place to help me feel like pre-pandemic times, I came across a trail near by Mirror Lake. It’s called Three Lakes Divide. It turned out to be a 6-mile hike, seeing one lake after another along the way.

Remember my travel motto, “the higher the better”? The base elevation for this trail is 9,988 feet (3044 meters) and the peak elevation is almost 10,500 feet (3200 meters).
