This week, on Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #194, Sofia from Photographia is hosting and the fun theme of Bokeh is chosen.
I love this theme because bokeh feels like it’s something that can only be achieved with a camera or when one gets both eyes dilated. It also lends a mysterious feel for a photo.
Like Sofia, I, too, keep my camera in Aperture Priority mode and often dial the F-stop to the maximum – F/4 at 70 mm and F/2.8 at 17mm for my lens – when I take photos of flowers to get maximum blur.

I don’t know which I like better. I have been practicing my photo composition ever since the photo composition class in March. The instructor used the composition in the left photo quite a bit and her photo looked good. I feel like it does look a bit strange to have the foreground blurred as opposed to the background.
What do you think?
I like the pictures; the camera talk I don’t understand. You know how so keep the pictures coming.

And now that I’ve taken some actual photography classes, I’m looking forward to trying some new techniques. 🙂

I like the left picture. When you blur the foreground you add depth to the photograph. Of all the pictures I really like the top one.

I really like these! I didn’t know this technique had a name. Now I know and I’ll have to try it!

Thank you. I didn’t know the name of this technique either until a few years ago. 😀

Wonderful examples! I don’t find having a out-of-focus foreground strange, it gives depth and interest.

I do like the blur in front. It is different and Dows bring depth to the photo. I loved the position of the seed pods in the first photo. Fun. Donna
