They were deemed as the most adventurous couple among their friends. “We fell in love on a photo shoot,” she’d say whenever someone asked for the story of how they had become smitten.

They both wanted to learn nightscape photography but when it was time to go on the class field trip to practice, she became disappointed. Sitting next to her, he asked, “Hey, are you okay?”

She sighed, “Yeah, just bummed I won’t be able to make it to the field trip.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t have a car. I’ve been able to get by with public transportation but there’s no way I can get there by bus.”

“I can drive you.” He volunteered.

“You sure? I don’t want to be any trouble.”

“Of course,” he smiled, “it’ll be fun.”

That night, despite the cold, they stayed long after everyone else in the class had gone home, letting both of their cameras run for minutes at a time, capturing photo upon photo of stars. She didn’t go home that night. She stayed up with him at his place and together, they processed and stacked the photos into the most remarkable photograph of star trails.
