#WeekendCoffeeShare – Went to a Few Places this week…

Hello, welcome to #weekendcoffeeshare. Let’s have something warm to drink this week because it looks like it’s going to be somewhat of a chilly day today.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you it seems like winter is creeping up my door again as the temperature dropped from the 80’s Fahrenheit to the 70’s to the 60’s to yesterday, which peaked in the mid-50’s. That’s chilly. I had to move my tomato seedlings back inside again.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I spent a portion of my bonus on a new laptop and another portion on a new personal air conditioner, hoping to stave off the heat this summer after the one I bought last summer is no longer working. My 6-year-old laptop is just about done with its life. It takes around 20 minutes just to access the internet to my blog and maybe an hour to access the program to edit my photos.

My photos are all in an uncompressed format and looking at them unedited is like looking at a blemished person without markup – colorless and pale.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I went to quite a few places in the last 7 days.

On Sunday, I drove almost 2 hours to Strawberry Bay Marina. The entire family showed up that day at the request of my mom, who planned the trip and who wanted to go crawfishing. She never did any actual crawfishing that day. She put everyone to work after serving everyone some baked spare ribs. Then she sat in a chair beneath the tent drinking tea and coffee.

Then on Thursday, mom and I hopped into my uncle’s car and allowed my uncle to drive for almost 4 hours to near the eastern border of Utah and Colorado to Dinosaur National Monument. I’m processing the photos from this trip and loving it. I think the photography composition class I took in April definitely helped.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you there was another department event on Friday. The department once after went to TopGolf. We went to the same location last May. It’s where a person stands on the platform and whack the ball as far as they can with a golf club. I think I got better even though I haven’t played in year or perhaps I’m just lucky.

I appreciate you stopping by and reading this week’s #weekendcoffeeshare, hope to chat again same time next week.

  1. Hi YingLan,
I used to dread the possibility of being asked to go golfing or other sports thing with a customer as part of a team serving them and for the most part avoided such nightmares. I did manage to avoid golf, but one sales rep caught me with a cannot refuse visit to a San Francisco baseball game. They routed us to a very expensive sky box room with a great view of a baseball game – easily one of the most boring sports devised by human-kind. I spent a night away from my family mostly in the back of the room enjoying the nice goodies that someone else paid for while feeling like a round peg not fitting well into a square hole.
    sigh. . .

    1. Hi Gary, I’m not crazy about sports but being able to stand there and whack golf balls was a huge stress reliever for me. It sucked that I woke up this morning with sore arm though but I guess it comes with the territory of whacking balls. 😄😄😄
I think I’d had done what you did though (if I got invited to a baseball game), I’d had sat in the back munching away on the food. 😄

      1. Ha – then I wish you had been there. I would have enjoyed your company and together we could have insulted the whole institution of baseball while the others starved because we ate all the free goodies.

    1. Thank you. I’m liking my new laptop – still trying to get used to Windows 11 though. I hope you stay cool this summer as well and have a great week. 🙂

  3. You certainly had an exciting week. Fun outings! Congratulations on your new computer. I got a new laptop recently. My other Mac was so old the OS couldn’t be updated and apps were starting to not work. I thought it was OK (i.e. I didn’t want to spend the money), but I can’t believe how fast my new one is! Enjoy!

    1. I wanted to put off on buying a new computer even since the company issued me a new laptop but I can’t access any of my photography software on it and I just got a bonus that was burning a hole in my wallet, so… 😀 I can’t believe how much faster my new computer is compared to the old one. 🙂
